Bucket was super interested in sniffing around on the new desk.
Here are some random things making appearances around hurr.
3. Fun glasses & wild hair
On another note–
After about a year of mulling it over, we have decided to pursue adding another member to our family… a new puppy! Much research has been done the past few weeks, and we’re starting to make headway. Hopefully we’ll get our lil’ guy soon!
Pat and I are currently sharing one vehicle, and it is getting to be that time when one car isn’t quite cutting it. I’ve been thinking about what kind of “crossover” would be best for me, and for us, the future, etc. So far, the top of the list is the Nissan Rogue. I’ve test driven it twice, and we got a surprisingly great quote on it yesterday at the dealership.
We’ll be taking this next month to figure out our best options for financing and other super ‘fun’ things.
In the meantime, I’ve been pretty good about cooking dinner every night. [husband has been super into making our lunches recently too!]
Here’s some foods-
&& now for my biggest achievement…..
This was my first attempt at one of Pat’s favorites. It was soooo good! I basically used this recipe with minor tweaks.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about cooking, it’s that marinades make such a difference! There are so many marinades out there, and can transform your meat in amazing ways.
This may get long….
Okay so I don’t really actually watch the Golden Globes, but I do enjoy the red carpet to see the good/bad/sad.
These are my opinions on some looks. Oh and I do not own any of these photos 🙂
I am a huge fan of Shailene Woodley in this Marchesa gown. At first I was concerned that the dress was hitting her a bit low in the chest, but upon further investigation, it’s clear there is that “invisible” nylon part of the dress that keeps it in place. The color is gorgeous as well. Love!
Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji. This muted lilac with a hint of pink number looks amazing on her. This is proof that if ya got large sweater puppies, you can dress them appropriately. Also, she’s clearly not a size 2, but she really shows off her body without looking frump frump.
Michelle Williams in Jason Wu. When I watched her strutting around on the red carpet, I really didn’t like this look. I think it photographs much nicer actually, and I’m kind of diggin’ the velvet.
Viola Davis- she is fierce in this pixie, I frickin love it on her. The dress is nice, I’m not wowed by it. But I can’t take my eyes off of her makeup and hair. Also, have you seen The Help??
Charlize Theron and her sparkle headband. I love sparkle. I love sparkle headbands. Done.
And now the bad, bad, bad
Jessica Chastain. Um, I don’t understand. Also, the earrings are just way way too much with the dress. Yikes.
Nightmare of the Night-
Julie Bowen in Reem Acra. This is just absolutely heinous. On so many levels. I absolutely love Reem Acra, and this dress actually, but who on EARTH decided this would be an appropriate dress on her. Also her hair is reminding me of Elizabeth Banks. It’s like a 45 year-old woman is trying to dress up as 12 girl. It gives me the willys/creepos. And it is such a crime, because I do love this dress.
&& Here’s a picture of Tina Fey, because she’s better than Jesus. 😉
Phew, got it out of my system. What were your thoughts?
I had secondary interviews this morning; feeling decently confident…
& since we don’t have a lot to do around here until Pat starts school up again next week, we’ve been basking in the free time. Pat enjoys his video games, and I have been rearranging the apartment and taking advantage of awesome sales.
P.S. Go to Old Navy. And then shop their clearance section. And then scream with joy because clearance is another 30% off. boom.
Here’s a random mix-
1. This picture of Gordie makes me literally lol
2. Encroaching on hipster territory
3. How I display my nicer, dainty necklaces
4. New maxi, via Old Navy
5. Blue pillow to brighten up our very beige livingroom
5. Flowers from the hubby for my first interview
Oh by the way, it was 16 degrees this morning. That was special…
Today we had a mini snow flurry which made me very giddy!
Bucket was curled up in his new spot by the window
Snow/wetness/slush means that I get to wear these
We got a lot done today. After my interview, I did some major apartment cleaning and organizing while Patrick played basketball. Then it started snowing. Then it stopped. So we went to the bank, the pharmacy, and the grocery store.
I made dinner with peppercorn crusted pork tenderloin and some mushroom sauce.
We’re hoping for some snow overnight so it will stick by tomorrow. Happy Monday!
Today we attempted to pack up all of our belongings before we drive home tomorrow morning.
It really is amazing how much crap you can accumulate whilst on a vacation or seasonal break. It will be interesting to see how the husband is able to pack all of our stuff in the Element.
We did make a stop at the family storage units to see what we could clear out of Patrick’s. We ended up with nothing but a super nice leather and studded ottoman. Perhaps I’ll add a photo later when we’ve decided where to put it!
In other news, it was rather cold and dreary today, so I was ecstatic to break out my Hunter boots! Yahoo.
Also, I took some creepy photos in the backyard
There were some funny doggies in the backyard also.
We snuck in some grown-up stuff today too, like getting things notarized, assessing our goals and budget, and printing copies of my resume on fancy thick paper.
Our drive back home to Lubbock is around 5 hours. I will spend it preparing for my interview [aka, annoying Patrick] and perhaps starting a new book. It’s supposed to snow on Monday too. [you know what that means]
Yesterday, I had a lovely day at the spa with my mother-in-law getting mani/pedis, and concluded it with Tex Mex and a Mavs game in Dallas. They played the Suns, and I was pretty excited to see Steve Nash in the flesh. The Mavs won, and we also got a glimpse of 2 Kardashian sisters. I know you’re just so jealous.
This evening, the husband, brother-in-law, and I went out for some BJs. I couldn’t remember the last time I had eaten a Pizookie either; it’s kind of like that Jim Gaffigan sketch- there really is no real reason to eat a Pizookie.
Also I had some bread pudding today at lunch at the Montgomery Antique Mall with the MIL ….at least we shared it. I guess I needed to get that dessert guilt off my conscience.
Here’s some puppies
We’ll be leaving Fort Worth this weekend, and I have a job interview on Monday! [finally!] It is just exciting to be getting my foot in the door!
The past couple of days have been full of activities over here in the Original Powers Abode.
We celebrated Christmas on Dec. 31; Patrick and I were absolutely spoiled by generous gift after gift.
Pat and I also got a new camera, and I can’t wait to get it and take some proper photos!
After gift giving, and Jesus Cake eating, we concluded the evening with…..
A group of us agreed to go out and kick off the new year by participating in a fun lil’ 5K in Fort Worth. I was pretty nervous about it because I’ve failed to work-out consistently, but it went surprisingly well! [I’m not even really sore today!]
I chose to be anti-social and plug my iPod in and just trot it out. I actually had fun running, but the ex-athlete in me always comes out- and I couldn’t help but feel a little competitive when I was running next to the strangers, and run just a wee bit faster to pass them ;).
In the lulls of activities, I have been glued to my Kindle; I’ve read four books already, and I hope to keep reading regularly. I’ll probably consult my sister for book suggestions.
Excited for the last days of Winter break before we get back into the swing of things. Happy 2012!
